Q

OPA Insertion

A
  1. Size airway by measuring from center incisors to the angle of the jaw

Q

NPA Insertion

A
  1. Size the airway by measuring from the tip of the nose to the earlobe
  2. Face the bevel of the NPA medially and insert into the nostril, twisting for ease of insertion unitl the bevel sits flush with the nostril
  3. Lubrication may be required

Q

Suction unit

Yankeur suction catheter
Y suction catheter

A

Yankeur suction catheter is a rigid suction device used to suction the airways of adults and older children who have fully formed soft palette

Y suction catheter s a flexible suction tube used to suction the airways of small children and infants who are at risk of oral trauma from rigid suction devices

  • Content of the airway suctioning are stored in a container on the side of the oxygen kit
