A

Must not operate an aircraft without an AELS.

AELS shall
Automatically broadcast for at least 24 hours
Alerts SAR
id’s a/c location at least 5km radius
Contains a/c’s I’d

Broadcasts homing signal
Independent power source
Suitable for a/c type
Operable after crash

Operate without AELS installed if
Ferry a/c from place of possession to place of installment
No pax

Operate with inoperative AELS if
Ferry a/c to place where repairs or replacement can be made
No pax

A/c may be operated without operable AELS for no more than 7 seven days if PLB or ELT(S) accessible to all

Aeroplane performing regular air transport service to, from, within countries outside NZ

is equipped with
3 ELTs, 1 must be ELT(AF)
