Equations Flashcards
Finding mols using molar mass
mol = mass(g)/Mr(g/mol)
Finding moles from concentration or volume
mol = concentration (M) * volume (L)
Whatever the unit for molarity will decide the volume unit.
Finding mass
Rearrange equation for moles OR:
1. mass (g) = molarity (M) * volume (L) * molar mass (g/mol)
2. mass (g) = molarity (M) * molar mass (g/mol)
Percentage weight over volume
% w/v = mass of solute (g)/volume of solution(ml) * 100
What IS percentage weight over volume?
The weight of a solutte in an entire solution
Dilution factor
Df = total volume (after dilution)/original volume (before dilution)
Calculating an unknown quantity where two solutions/mixtures are proportional
C1 V1 = C2 V2
What is x̅ in statistics?
mean
What is xi in statistics?
A specific data point of value in a data set. It is used in the equation for standard deviation
What is n in statistics?
Sample number
Standard deviation
