equality
ensuring people are treat fairly and are given the same opportunities. people must not be discriminated against due to their age, race, gender, etc.
diversity
recognising and respecting individual differences, and seeing everyone as a unique individual. individuals should be respected and valued, and their differences shouldn’t obstruct the way they’re cared for.
rights
are what people are legally entitled to, and are enshrined in legislation, such as the equality act. everyone possesses basic human rights, and in turn has a responsibility to respects other people’s human rights.
choice
gives people control over their lives and increases self-esteem as it promotes independence and empowerment
confidentiality
means that private info should only be shared with individuals who are directly involved with an individual’s care
protection from abuse and harm
care settings and practitioners must have safeguarding procedures and safety measures in place and should follow health and safety legislation.
equal and fair treatment
people working in or using health, social care services, or child care services should be treat within the law and according to their needs.
consultation
people using health, social care, or child care services should be asked for their views and opinions about their care/treatment; this should inform the care they receive.
right to life
a person’s life is protected by human rights law; everyone’s right to life should be valued/respected.
