Hard engineering-
-Beach rock grounds and rock breakwaters are being used. Two of each placed at intervals along the beach which will retain shingle.
What issues is Borth, wales suffering from?
The coastline is facing issues flooding, erosion and cliff instability.

What are the advantages of the rock groynes and rock breakwaters at borth?
Rock groynes absorb wave energy and trap sediment so the coast behind the sand layer is protected from erosion.
-breakwaters reduce incoming wave energy
-allowed tourism and surfing to be brought to Borth.
What are the disadvantages of the rock groynes and rock breakwaters at borth?
-Rock groynes can starve towns and villages of sediment further down the coast
-Breakwaters are hard to maintain.
-Money is being spent here but Fairbourne (a local village) is being given up on.
