Transport- transportation is slower and more basic in the rural areas having small roads and very little of them. This means that it is harder to travel to different parts of the country more easily.

In Urban cores there is much more economic activity as people are buying and selling constantly. Services and research (tertiary and quaternary jobs) are also provided which pay more money than manufactory and agriculture (secondary and primary jobs) found in rural cores.

In rural areas the population is much older as majority of people living there are retired people(60+) looking for a quite retirement. In urban cores however, the population is much younger as young people from all across the world move to cities like London because of the jobs, schools etc. that are there.

In urban areas the pay levels are higher because there are more people working in tertiary and quaternary jobs like office jobs or research, that provide more money than jobs like farming and forestry that are done in rural areas

The UK have been making enterprise zones. These zones encourage companies to locate there because of the tax reduction. This will lead to more people getting jobs and there will be more skilled and more higher paying jobs available which ultimately reduce differences in wealth

How have the EU polices tried to reduce differences in wealth between urban and rural areas?

The EU provide regional development zones. These zones provide training for workers, promote growth in rural areas, create highly skilled jobs which pay more, boosts local economy,builds business parks, builds universities, attracts graduates, very fast internet broadband, builds roads. These all create a more urban like area that encourages people to move there.
