EPs Flashcards
Engine malfunction in flight
- Control Nr
- C-pwr - on
- Single engine conditions - establish
- Eng anti-ice switches - as req
- External cargo/stores/fuel - jettison / dump as req
- ID malfunction
Engine high side failure in flight
- EMIF - perform
- PCL (malfunction engine) - retard to set
a. Torque 10% below the good engine
b. Matched Ng
c. Matched TGT
Engine high side failure on deck
- PCLs - IDLE
Engine torque or TGT spiking / fluctuations
If an engine instrument is spiking / fluctuating & inducing secondary indications in Ng, Np &/or Nr:
- EMIF - perform
If fuel contamination is suspected:
- Land as soon as possible
Compressor stall
- EMIF - perform
- PCL (malfunctioning engine) - IDLE
Engine high speed shaft failure
- EMIF - perform
- PCL (malfunctioning engine) - off
Engine malfunctioning during hover / takeoff
- Control Nr
- C-pwr - on
If a suitable landing site exists or unable to transition to forward flight:
- Set level attitude, eliminate drift, cushion landing
If able to transition to forward flight:
- EMIF - perform
Dual engine failure
- Autorotation - establish
- Immediate landing / ditching emergency procedure - perform
If time & altitude permit
- Engine air restart EP - perform
Single engine failure in flight
- EMIF - perform
Engine air restart
- # 1 & #2 fuel boost push buttons - ON
- APU emergency start procedure - perform
- Engine ignition switch - NORM
- Fuel selector lever - DIR or XFD
- PCL - OFF
- Starter - Engage, motor engine
- PCL - IDLE (TGT 80deg or less, if time permits)
- PCL - advance to fly after starter dropout
Abort start
To abort start
1. PCL - off
2. Engine ignition switch - off
If engine oil pressure is indicated:
- Starter - engage
APU emergency start
- ECS - OFF
- AIR SOURCE ECS / START switch - APU
- FUEL pump switch - APU boost
- APU control switch - ON
- APU gen switch - ON
Ground resonance
If a safe takeoff is possible:
1. Takeoff immediately
If a safe takeoff is not possible:
2. PCLs - OFF
3. Rotor brake - apply
Unusual vibrations on deck
- Collective - lower
- PCLs - OFF
- Rotor brake - apply as required
Main transmission malfunction
If failure is imminent:
1. Land immediately
If secondary indications are present:
2. Land as soon as possible
Tail / intermediate transmission malfunctions
If failure is imminent:
1. Land immediately
If failure is not imminent:
2. Land as soon as possible
1/#2 input chip caution
- Main transmission malfunction EP - perform
Loss of tail rotor drive altitude & airspeed sufficient to establish autorotation
- PAC calls “AUTO AUTO AUTO”
- Autorotation - establish. Center tail rotor pedals
- Drive failure - attempt to verify
- Immediate landing/ditching emergency procedure - perform
- PCLs - OFF when directed (prior to the flare)
Loss of tail rotor drive altitude & airspeed not sufficient to establish autorotation
- PAC calls HOVER HOVER HOVER
- Collective - lower
- PNAC - hands on PCLs
- PCLs - OFF when directed (20-30’)
Loss of tail rotor control
- Collective / airspeed - adjust as required to control yaw
Tail rotor quadrant caution
- Check for tail rotor control
If tail rotor control is unavailable:
2. Loss of tail rotor control EP - perform
Hyd system warning
- Land immediately
1 & #2 HYD PUMP failure
- Restrict flight control movement
- Land as soon as possible
Boost servo hard over
- PAC call - BOOST BOOST BOOST
- SAS/BOOST push button - OFF
