EPs Flashcards
Single Engine Failure - In Flight
OEI Flight Condition : Establish

Single Engine Emergency Shutdown: Perform
Land as soon as practicable
Single Engine Failure - OGE flight (CACRACASL)
Collective Lever: adjust to maintain rotor RPM
AIRSPEED: INCREASE IF POSSIBLE
COLLECTIVE : ADJUST TO OEI LIMITS OR BELOW
ROTOR SPEED: TRIM TO MAXIMUM
AIRSPEED: GAIN, 65 KNOTS
COLLECTIVE LEVER: REDUCE TO OEI MCP OR BELOW
AFFECTED ENGINE: IDENTIFY
SINGLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Single Engine Failure - OGE Landing (CALCAS)
COLLECTIVE LEVER: ADJUST TO MAINTAIN ROTOR RPM
AIRSPEED: INCREASE IF POSSIBLE
LANDING ATTITUDE: ESTABLISH
COLLECTIVE: RAISE AS NECESSARY TO STOP DESCENT AND CUSHION LANDING
AFTER LANDING:
AFFECTED ENGINE: IDENTIFY
SINGLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
Engine overspeed: governor failure (CVN ATL)
COLLECTIVE LEVER: RAISE AS NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN N2/NRO W/IN LIMITS
VAR NR SYSTEM NORM/MAN SWITCH: CHECK MAN
N2 TRIM SWITCH: TRY TO TRIM NRO TO 101% WITH MATCHED TORQUE
AFFECTED ENGINE: IDENTIFY
TWIST GRIP (AFFECTED ENGINE) : ROTATE TOWARDS IDLE UNTIL N2 AND NRO STABILIZE IM THE NORMAL RANGE AND FLI NEEDLES MATCH
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Autorotation (CADB)
Collective lever: REDUCE TO MAINTAIN NRO W/IN LIMITS
AIRSPEED: 75 KIAS RECOMMENDED
DOUBLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
BAT MSTR SWITCH: OFF
Tailor rotor drive failure/fixed pitch - forward flight (CASSAL AAA)
COLLECTIVE LEVER: REDUCE TO OBTAIN MINIMUM SIDESLIP ANGLE
AIRSPEED: MAINTAIN 70 KTS OR HIGHER
SUITABLE LANDING AREA: SELECT
SHALLOW APPROACH WITH NOSE LEFT: PERFORM
AIRSPEED: REDUCE CLOSE TO THE GROUND UNTIL NOSE IS ALIGNED WITH THE FLIGHT DIRECTION
LANDING: PERFORM
IF NOSE DIRECTION CHANGES FROM FROM LEFT TO RIGHT HIGHER THAN 40 KNOTS:
AIRSPEED: INCREASE
APPROACH: ABORT, CLIMB TO SUFFICIENT HEIGHT FOR AUTOROTATION
AUTOROTATION: PERFORM
Engine underspeed: governor failure (OBVANTLS)
OEI FLIGHT CONDITION: ESTABLISH
BLEED AIR CONSUMERS: OFF
VAR NR SYSTEM NORM/MAN SWITCH: CHECK MAN
AFFECTED ENGINE: IDENTIFY
N2 TRIM SWITCH: COMPENSATE FOR N2/NRO DROP AND TRY TO MATCH TORQUE
TWIST GRIP (AFFECTED ENGINE): RELEASE STOP PLATE AND ROTATE TOWARDS FLIGHT UNTIL N2 AND NRO STABILIZE IN NORMAL RANGE AND FLI NEEDLES MATCH
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
IF NO RESIDUAL TORQUE (AFFECTED ENGINE) IS AVAILABLE:
SINGLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
Fire on ground
(FFBE-S-DP-BE-B)
Fire sw (affected engine): raise guard, press
Both fuel prime pumps: check off
BPT 1/BOT 2 PB: PRESS: BOTTLE 1 ACTIVATED
EXT INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON (EMER OFF SW PNL)
CHECK STOP WATCH: START (AFTER BOT 1 LEGEND AND EXT INDICATOR LIGHT GO OFF (EMER OFF SW PNL)
DOUBLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
PASSENGERS : ALERT/EVACUATE
IF SITUATION PERMITS AND FIRE WARNING IS STILL ON AFTER 1 MINUTE:
BOT 1/BOT 2 PB: PRESS, BOTTLE 2 ACTIVATED
EXT INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON (EMER OFF SW PNL)
BAT MSTR SW: OFF
Fire in flight
(OAF-BE-S-ASPL-BE-L)
OIE FLIGHT CONDITION: ESTABLISH
AIRSPEED: REDUCE IF IAS IS EXCEEDING 100 KTS
FIRE SW (AFFECTED ENGINE): RAISE GUARD, PRESS
BOT 1/BOT 2 PB: PRESS; BOTTLE 1 ACTIVATED;
:EXT INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON (EMER OFF SW PNL)
CLOCK STOP WATCH: START (AFTER BOT 1 LEGEN AND EXT INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON (EMER OFF SW PNL)
AFFECTED ENGINE: IDENTIFY
SINGLE ENGINE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN: PERFORM
PASSENGERS: ALERT
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
If FIRE warning is still on after 1 minute:
BOT 1/BOT 2 PB: PRESS; BOTTLE 2 ACTIVATED
: EXT INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON (EMER OFF SW PNL)
If fire warning remains on:
LAND IMMEDIATELY
BAT TEMP
On Ground
BAT MSTR SW: OFF
In Flight
BAT MSTR SW: OFF
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
LOW FUEL
If both FUEL LOW warning lights remain on:
LAND WITHIN 10 MINUTES
If one FUEL LOW warning light remains on:
EXPECT SINGLE ENGINE FAILURE
ROTOR RPM
COLLECTIVE LEVER: ADJUST AS NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN Nro WITHIN NORMAL RANGE
XMSN OIL PRESS
If one XMSN oil pressure indication is below 1.0 bar:
