Big 7 EP’s Flashcards
Respond to Emergencies
Task 1070
FADECF
SELECT suitable landing area if required
FADECF
F-Fly the aircraft.
R- safe rotor speed
A- safe attitude
A- safe altitude
S- safe speed
H- safe heading
A- Alert the crew
D- diagnose the problem
E- execute the emergency procedure
C- communicate the plan with the crew, the crew communicates outside the aircraft.
F- fly the aircraft
Single Engine failure OGE Hover
Task 1072
CALCAS
Collective lever- adjust to maintain rotor rpm
Airspeed- increase if possible
Landing attitude- establish
Collective lever- raise as necessary to stop decent and cushion landing
After landing
Affected engine- identify
Single engine emergency shutdown- perform
Single engine failure OGE flyaway
Task 1074
CACRACASL
Collective lever- adjust to maintain rotor rpm
Airspeed- increase if possible
Collective lever- adjust to oei limits or below-12 FLI 2.5 min
Rotor speed- trim to max
Airspeed- gain, 65 KIAS
After reaching safe altitude
Collective lever- reduce to OEI MCP or below-11 FLI
Affected engine- identify
Single engine emergency shutdown- perform
Land as soon a practicable
Perform autorotation
Task 1082
CADB
Collective lever- reduce to maintain NRO within limits
Airspeed- 75 KIAS recommended
Double engine emergency shutdown- perform

Task 1321
CASSAALAAA
Collective lever- reduce to maintain minimum sideslip
Airspeed- maintain 70 KIAS or higher
Suitable landing area- select
(Hard surface) (left crosswind better)
Shallow approach with nose left- perform
Airspeed below 40 KIAS
Airspeed- reduce close to ground until nose aligned with flight direction
Landing- perform
Airspeed above 40KIAS nose right
Airspeed- increase
Approach- abort climb to auto height
Autorotation- perform
Engine overspeed: governor failure
Task 1102
CVN ATL
Collective lever – Raise as necessary to maintain N2 and NRO within limits
VAR NR system NORM/MAN sw – Check MAN
N2 TRIM sw – Try to trim NRO to 101% with matched torque
If step 3 not possible:
Affected engine – Identify
Twist grip (affected engine) – Rotate towards IDLE until N2 and NRO have stabilized in normal range and FLI needles match
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
Single engine emergency shutdown
Twist grip (affected engine)- rotate slowly to idle, check indications, then off
Rotor speed- trim to max
Bld Htg emer/norm sw- emer
Bld htg rheostat- on
Single engine failure- in flight
ORASL
OEI Flight Condition : Establish
Rotor Speed : Trim to maximum
Affected Engine: Identify
Single Engine Emergency Shutdown: Perform
Land as soon as practicable
