Epithelium Flashcards
Single layer of tall cells with differentiating heights. Off center nuclei.
Pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium
Single layer of cube-like cells
Simple cuboidal epithelium
Single layer of flattened cells
Simple Squamous Epithelium
Several cell layers. Basal layers are cuboidal. Apical cells are flattened.
Stratified squamous epithelium
Two layers of cube-like cells
Stratified cuboidal epithelium
Multiple layers with cells becoming increasingly flat and scaly. A layer of compact dead cells with no nucleus
Keratinized stratified squamous epithelium
Bulbous or rounded cells in the apical side. Bladder lining
Transitional epithelium
Several cell layers. Basal cells usually cuboidal. Apical side is columnar.
Stratified columnar epithelium
Single layer of tall cells with round to oval nuclei. Symmetrical nuclei
Simple columnar epithelium
