Epithelial Tissue Flashcards
State anatomical location of simple squamous epithelia and function.
- Blood vessels, alveoli
- Exchange of nutrients, waste and gases.
Where would you find stratified columnar epithelia?
Male Urethra
Where would you find pseudostratified columnar epithelium in the body? And what is its features?
- Trachea
- ciliated for propelling mucous + goblet cells which produce the mucous
What type of epithelia is found in the oral cavity? state function.
- Non-keratinized stratified squamous
- Function: protection
Where is microvilli found?
Proximal convoluted tubule and Intestines
Where are cilia found?
Respiratory tract and female reproductive system
State the anatomical location of simple columnar. State what feature it has for efficient absorption.
- Stomach, intestines, gallbladder (non ciliated) in the bronchi and uterine tubes it is ciliated
- Feature: Microvilli in the intestines and stomach
(Function: protection and secretion and absorption)
What is the type of epithelia in the epidermis of the skin?
Keratinised Stratified Squamous (protection)
What is the type of epithelia found in kidney tubules?
Simple Cuboidal (For secretion, absorption and protection)
Where would you find stratified cuboidla epithelia?
In the ducts of pancreatic glands, sweat glands, and salivary glands.
