Epistasis Flashcards

Q
What is recessive epistasis?
A
- if there is a homozygous recessive at the 2nd loci then you get no expression of the first loci
- ratio 9:3:4
1
Q
What is epistasis?
A
It is the interaction of different gene loci so that one gene locus masks or suppresses the expression of another gene locus
2
Q
What is dominant epistasis?
A
- a dominant allele at the first loci will interfere with the expression of the second loci
- ratio 12:3:1
- 13:3 ratio occurs when double recessive at second loci also codes for no colour
3
Q
What is complementary epistasis?
A
- need 1 dominant allele at both loci for expression
* ratio 9:7
