tingling or twitching begins in a small area and then spreads to a larger area of the body

patient may appear to be awake but with impairment of awareness

complex seizures are characterised by
automatisms

an action performed unconsciously or involuntarily
decreased level of consciousness
generalised seizures
generalised seizures include
absence (petit mal) unresponsive for 5-10 s with arrest of activity, staring, blinking or eye-rolling, no post-ictal confusion; 3 Hz spike and slow waveactivity on EEG
repetitive rhythmic jerking movements
clonic
muscle rigidity in flexion or extension
tonic
prodrome of unease or irritability hours to days before the episode
tonic-clonic grand mal generalized tonic-clonic [GTC])

repetitive violent jerking of face and limbs, tongue biting, cyanosis, frothing, incontinence
