1/4 in UK die of avoidable causes. Men at greater risk than women. CHD biggest killer for men, lung cancer for women. Regional differences exist.

Smoking, poor diet - all 3 have in common
IHD/CVD-excessive alcohol consumption, lack of early detection, lack of adherence, lack of exercise
Malignancies-lack of exercise, excessive alcohol consumption
Respiratory diseases-lack of early detection
