What is strimmer’s dermatitis?
A skin reaction caused by a sensitivity to sap
What is cold urticaria?
A urticarial rash that comes from a sensitivity to the cold
What is erysipelas?
A bacterial infection caused by strep. pyrogenes
What are the most common skin diseases?
Eczema, psoriasis, infections, acne, tumours
What are the most common consequences of skin disease?
Itch, pain, loss of work, disfigurement, unhappiness
Define prevelance
The number of people with a disease/condition at a specific point in time
Define incidence
The number of people who develop a disease/condition over a set period of time

What are the differences in incidence of skin disease in the UK compared to tropical countries?
There are more infectious diseases in tropical countries than chronic conditions (and vice versa) but acne incidence remains the same
