Q

Years of Potential Life Lost (YPLL)

A

Measure of the impact of premature mortality on a population

Sum of the differences between some predetermined end point and the ages of death for those who died before that end point (commonly aged 65 and average life expectancy)

Q

Disability adjusted life years (DALY)

A

DALY = YLL (years of life lost) + YLD (years lost due to disability)

YLL = N x LE (number of deaths x standard life expectancy)

YLD = I x DW x LD (number of incident cases x weight given to the disbality x average duration of the case until remission or death)
