Epaxial Muscles Flashcards
describe the transversospinalis system: splenius, semispinalis capitis (beventer cervicis, complexus)
tranvsersospinalis is super general in thoracic region, just know it’s the most dorsal group
in the neck: splenius is larger and most superficial, resect it to expose the 2-headed biventer cervices (dorsal) and the complexus (ventral)
biventer cervicis + complexus = semispinalis capitis
describe the longissimus system: longissimus thoracic et lumborum, longissisimus cervicis, longissimus capitis, and longissisimus atlantis (equine and bovine)
longissimus thoracic et lumborum: no idea where it ends betwen lumbar and thoracic region, is the middle group of muscles
longissimus cervicis; larger and goes to the transverse process of the cervical vertebrae
longissimus capitis: smallest
longissimus atlantis (equine and bovine): runs ventral to longissimus cervicis
describe the ileocostalis muscle
most ventral group of muscles
describe general innervation to the epaxial muscles
all epaxial muscles are innervated by the dorsal branches of the spinal nerves
