30
Q

WHAT IS PRIMARY SURVEY

A
  • DRSABCD
31
Q

WHAT DOES DRSABCD STAND FOR

A
  • DANGER….. remove patient and YOU from danger.
  • RESPONSE….. check for a response to stimuli aural, mechanical stimuli, then pain response to a sternum rub. if patient is unresponsive they will have to be moved using physical assistance of available ABPsto ensure the primary survey can be continued.
  • SEND FOR HELP including alerting other Crew members to initiate the first aid drill, Making a P.A. for medical assistance, recruit anyABP’s and medical equipment on board, also ensuring that the Flight Deck know what is occurring in the cabin.
  • AIRWAY… extending the customers head backwards and hyper-flexing the neck place your splayed hands on the outside of the customer head and use your thumbs and forefingers to thrust the jaw forward, visually inspecting that the airway is clear.
  • BREATHING…. utilising the look listen and feel technique, assess the customers ventilation for 10-15 seconds. If the customer is not breathing, move on to CPR.
  • CPR…. establish the correct hand placement with the calliper method. Commence compressions at 1/3 compression depth at a ratio of 30 compressions to two breaths, attempting to achieve 100 compressions per minute.Defribrillator….. the person in charge of operating the defribrillator is in charge of the whole scenario and it is their responsibility to communicate with the rest of the team, to ensure safe practice. Safety points;ensure appropriate adhesion of the pads, in line with instructed anatomical positions.ensure the patient is clear of all persons and conductive objects, and be sure to announce when the defribrillator will be used.
  • HAEMMORRHAGE check for visual signs of haemorrhage and treat if necessary.
32
Q

FR2 AND FR3 DIFRIBRILLATOR

A
  • THE FR3 IS THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE FR2.
  • FR3’S ARE BEING ROLLED OUT ACCROSS THE FLEET. THERE WILL BE A PERIOD OF CROSSOVER.
  • YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO OPERATE BOTH MODELS
  • CLEAR AND DECISIVE INSTRUCTION IS A NECESSITY WHEN USING A DEFRIBRILLATOR, TO MAINTAIN SAFETY AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
  • MAINTAING A SAFE DISTANCE AROUND THE PATIENT WHEN TOLD TO BY THE DEFRIBRILLATOR IS IMPERATIVE TO THE SAFETY OF ALL STAFF INVOLVED.
  • CORRECT PAD PLACEMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENSURE PROPER FUNCTION OF THE DEFRIBRILATOR.
  • LOGISTICALLY THE LOCATION OF BOTH TYPES OF DEFRIBRILLATOR WILL BE THE SAME THROUGHOUT ALL AIRCRAFT.
33
Q

FR2 AND FR3 DIFRIBRILLATOR DIFFERENCES

A
  • FR3 WILL START OPERATING AS SOON AS YOU OPEN CASE. FR2 WILL NOT
  • FR3 HAS A SPECIFIC PEDIATRIC FUNCTION KEY WHICH CAN BE UTILISED IN THE EVNT THAT YOU ARE TREATING AN INFANT OR SMALL CHILD. FOR PATIENTS UNDER 25KGS OR 8 YEARS OF AGE. IF THEY DO NOT FIT THIS CRITERIA THEN USE THE NORMAL ADULT FUNCTION. THE FR2 DOES NOT HAVE THIS FUNCTION
  • THE FR3 ALSO BROADCASTS A BEEPER ALERT CHECK WHICH WILL ASSIST YOU IN CONDUCTING YOUR COMPRESSIONS THE FR2 DOES NOT.
34
Q

ANAPHYLAXIS - WHERE IS THE ANAPEN LOCATED?

A
  • MOST PEOPLE THAT HAVE AN ANAPHYLLACTIC REACTION WILL KNOW THIS AND CARRY AN ANAPEN OR EPI PEN.
  • IF IT SOMEONES FIRST TIME, OR THEY DONT HAVE A PEN WITH THEM, THERE IS AN ANAPEN LOCATED IN THE PHYSICIANS KIT BAG B FOR ANAPHYLAXIS.
35
Q

USE OF ANAPEN

A
  • REFER TO THE ANAPHYLAXIS CREW ACTION PLAN.
  • PROVIDED THE CUSTOMER’S SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS CORRELATE TO THOSE ON THE ACTION PLAN THEN HE OR SHE CAN ADMINISTER THE DRUG BY USING THE STEPS ON THE PLAN.
  • THERE ARE ALSO ANTIHISTIMINES ON BOARD THAT CAN BE ADMINISTERED BEFORE, WITH, OR AFTER THE ANAPEN PROVIDED THE PATIENT IS ABLE TO TAKE IT ORALLY.
  • IF THE PATIENT IS ALREADY SUFFERING FROM RESPIRATORY COMPROMISE, THIS WILL NOT BE VIABLE.
  • MAKE SURE THE STIMULANT THAT HAS CAUSED THE REACTION HAS BEEN REMOVED IF POSSIBLE.
  • ENSURE YOU ARE WEARING PPE (GLOVES)
  1. PULL OFF BLACK NEEDLE SHIELD
  2. PULL OFF GREY SAFETY CAP FROM.
  3. RED BUTTONPLACE PEN FIRMLY AGAINST OUTER MID THY AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. WITH OR WITHOUT CLOTHING.
  4. PRESS THE RED BUTTON UNTIL IT CLICKS AND HOLD IT IN FOR TEN SECONDS.
  • AFTER 10 SECONDS REMOVE ANAPEN AND DO NOT TOUCH THE NEEDLE. RE-CAP THE NEEDLE WITH THE BLACK SHEATH.
  • MASSAGE INJECTION SITE FOR 10 SECONDS.
36
Q

ANAPEN HOW MANY?

A
  • IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT CREW KNOW THAT ONE DOSE OF ADRENALIN IS NOT A MIRACLE CURE FOR ANAPHYLAXIS.
  • ANAPHYLAXIS IS A SYSTEMIC HYPERSENSITIVITY REACTION WHICH WILL USUALLY CONTINUE FOR A LONGER DURATION THAN THAT OF THE ADRENALIN.
  • A PERSON WILL USUALLY REQUIRE SUBSEQUENT DOSES
  • .USE YOUR PRIMARY SURVEY.
  • SEND FOR HELP VIA THE FLIGHTDECK AND PA.
  • CONTINUE TO CHECK AIRWAY AND BREATHING AND SUPPLY OXYGEN.
  • REMEMBER ONE DOSE OF ANAPEN IS NOT JOB DONE.
37
Q

ASTHMA

A
  • IN THE EVENT A PERSON HAS AN EXACERBATION OF ASTHMA ON BOARD, AND THEY DONT HAVE THEIR MEDICATION. YOU CAN RETRIEVE VENOLIN FROM THE PHYSICIANS KIT BAG D.
  • THE VENOLIN SPACER IS IN THE EXTERNAL BAG. BAG G.
  • COUPLE THE VENTOLIN INHALER TO THE SPACER.
  • YOU CSN GIVE VENTOLIN TO A PASSNEGER ONLY IF;
  1. THEY HAVE BEEN PRECRIBED VENTOLIN BY A DOCTOR.
  2. THEY ASK FOR VENTOLIN BY NAME.
  3. THE PATIENT MUST SELF ADMINISTER THE VENTOLIN.
  • THE PATIENT SHOULD PRESS THE CANNISTER THE DEVICE WILL METER A DOSE
  • THE PATIENT SHOULD THEN TAKE FOUR NORMAL BREATHS.
  • THIS CYCLE SHOULD BE REPEATED THREE MORE TIMES.
  • AFTER THE FOUR CYCLES THE PATIENT SHOULD HAVE 4 MINUTES OFF AFTER WHICH, IF THEY STILL NEED IT, THEY CAN SELF ADMINISTER ANOTHER FOUR CYCLES
38
Q

SECURITY RESTRAINT

A
  • REMOVE RESTRAINT FROM PACKAGE
  • PUSH OPEN THE CUFFS TO CREATE 2 LARGE LOOPS
