without prior approval of the PIC. However, the PIC must be informed as soon as
possible and subsequent approval given by them. Communication with the flight
crew is paramount in any in-flight emergency

Flight Deck Lockdown Procedure
• The flight deck door is to remain closed and locked.
• No one is to enter or leave the flight deck under any circumstances until
the aircraft is on the ground.
• The only exception to this is, should the captain not be on the flight deck
when lockdown occurs, they may re-enter the flight deck if the risk of not
doing so is greater than the risk of opening/closing the flight deck door. (i.e. Cadet is Flying)
