EP's Flashcards
Engine Failure Auto
65 kts
FFCL off
If not relighting: fuel shutoff, boost pumps and Gen
Master “all off” if smell of burning
65 feet flare
20-25 feet gradually raise collective
Level attitude and raise collective to touchdown
Flame out indications
Jerk in yaw axis Drop in NR Torque 0 Ng falling off to 0 Gen Light ENG P light
Relight Procedure
Normal relight ceiling is 13000’
Boost pumps on
Gen on
Wait until Ng below 30% then carry out normal starting procedure
GOV Failures
Large drop in fuel flow rate
Excessive fuel flow rate
Surging
Large drop in fuel flow rate
Same symptoms as engine failure but after a few seconds the NG will stabilize at low rpm (less than 70%)
Enter auto
FFCL into emergency sector (forward)
Ng and t4 should rise, control engine speed to 70% Ng
If necessary increase collective to bring NR to 350
Increase fuel flow until NR is apprrox 380
Trim collective pitch and FFCL to hold level flight at this NR
Excessive fuel flow rate
NG, T4, and Torque increase
Do not reduce collective
Reduce fuel flow until the NR corresponds to a position of the indicator pointer in the center of green area
Continue flight, any reduction of collective pitch will cause an increase in rotor speed which must be counteracted by adjusting the fuel flow control position.
Surging
Hunting of rpm, torque and T4
Reduce the collective
It may be pessary to reduce fuel flow slightly to leave the governed range, if surging still persists land as soon as possible.
Fire during start
Close fuel shutoff Rotor brake Boost pumps off Crank for 10 seconds Batt off Fight fire
Fire in Flight (fire light on)
Enter auto Fuel off Boost pumps off Gen off Master "all off" if smell of burning
Smoke in cabin source identified
Shut off corresponding system
Use fire extinguisher
Vent cabin
Smoke in cabin source not identified
Heating demisting off
If smoke does not clear, Master “all off” switch
All switches off
Reset battery on and reset “all off” master
Check generator (if okay) turn on each system one by one)
TR Failure in hover or low speed IGE
Bring aircraft to the ground by reducing collective before yaw rate is too high
TR Failure in hover or low speed OGE
Reduce collective, increase speed
TR Failure in forward flight
Reduce power and maintain forward speed
Select spot
Shut down engine and auto at lowest possible speed
TR Control failure
Landing is easier with right hand wind, less than 20kts go around impossible.
70kts
HYDR Test button (depressurize load compensating servo accumulator)
Shallow approach with left side slip
No fuel pressure
Confirmed by Fuel P light, if no light faulty pressure gauge and flight may be continued
Low Fuel pressure
Confirmed by F FILT light, if no light fault pressure gauge and flight may be continued.
Low engine oil pressure
“gauge pointed in red arc for Ng above 85%”
Check CWP for ENG P Light
No light (bulb out)
- Torque low, shut down engine, auto
- Torque correct, land as soon as possible
Light (bulb works)
- Torque low, land as soon as possible
- Torque correct, Land as soon as practicable, monitor ENG P. light
Eng oil temp high (low speed or hover)
Land if possible, check cooler fan operates
or
Increase speed and reduce power (80 kts)
If still high land as soon as possible.
Ng Indicator Failure
Monitor T4 and Torque
T4 above 15 c 750 max
Torque Failure
Monitor Ng limit below 98% for LA conditions
T4 Failure
Comply with Ng indications, do not attempt to start engine
Nr failure
Maintain torque >10%
Land as soon as practicable
Yaw Servo-control Slide-valve Seizure In hover
If no movement about yaw axis land normal
If aircraft yaw, cut off hydraulic switch on collective
Yaw Servo-control Slide-valve Seizure In cruise flight
Reduce speed, enter slide slip if necessary, cut off hydraulic pressure
Main servo control slide valve seizure
Cut off hydraulic on collective
60 kts
Follow HYD failure procedure
