Red plastic disc is intact at the rear of the handle
BCF precautions
- PBE should be worn
- Before use on flight deck, Oxy mask with reg on 100% should be worn
- Don’t let any metal part of the extinguisher come in contact with live wires
- If fighting fluid fires avoid getting to close to risk splash risk
- May be not effective on class d (combustable metal) fire.
BCF operation
1/ Push red catch up 2/ Aim at base of fire 3/Squeeze Handle 4/Sweep the flames 5/ All burnt non electrical embers should be thouroughy soaked

1.5-2 meters
BCF Limitations
Hold within 60 degress of vertical
BCF Duration
minimum 10 sec
BCF finger limitation
One, you can not fit two fingers
Essex PBE preflight
1/ Tamper prevention seal intact
2/ Check humidity seal indicator is blue in colour
Essex PBE precautions
1/ Before activating the oxygen, remove objects from around the head (hair combs/earings…)
2/ Ensure hair is contained in the neck seal
3/ Don hood promptly to minimise the risk of contaminents
4/if the hood collapses, remove it immediatly
5/ dont remove hood if near flames
6/ full hood inflation takes 2-3minutes to inflate, but is ready for use straight away
Essex PBE use
1/ remove the hood from the pouch
2/ unfold the hood
3/ ensure oxy cannisters facing away from body, and seperate sharply
4/ position the hood with the amber coloured transparent area facing away from you
place hands in neck seal with palms facing together. stretch the neack seal opening
5/ bend down and pull hood over head
Essex PBE duration
15 minutes
on left side, end of service light flashes green. will turn red when you should remove hood immediatly
Essex PBE disposal
Dispose of in lavatory bin. Lav bin should be monitored regularly during the flight.
Make a Cabin log entry.

Pull mask from PSU
