EOC Missed Qs Flashcards
Lac operon type
Inducible: substrate dissociates repressor
What is the normal and induced states of lac operon?
Normal: off
On: lactose present, binds as allolactose to repressor, repressor dissociates, operator is free and transcription of genes can occur
Type of operon that TRP is
Repressible: substrate binds to repress or stop transcription
Normal and ON for TRP operson
Normally: on, low levels of Trp > transcription occurring
Off: high levels of Trp, dimerize and bind to operator to repress transcription
Where is the auditory cortex located?
Temporal lobe
What is the I band?
Actin only
What is the name of the Actin only section?
I band
What is the overlap section of actin and myosin?
A band
What is the A band showing?
Overlap of actin and mysoin
What is the H band?
Myosin only
What is the band with only myosin?
H band
Function of the spleen?
Storage of leukocytes
What is the classification of restriction enzyme?
Endonuclease: cleave nucleotides from the middle of segment
Vs exonuclease: cleaving end of chain
DNA vs cDNA template length?
DNA is longer, cDNA is shorter
- cDNA developed from mRNA, only coding regions, no introns
- complimentary to mRNA
Professional Antigen Presenting Cells (APCs)
MHC II: B cells, dendritic cells, macrophages
- lead to T-cell mediated immunity by presenting to adaptive system
What does LH surge cause:
Ovulation
Ependymal
Cerebrospinal
Astrocyte =
Support cells
Pluripotent
Not natural in adults
Totipotent
Normally found in embryo only
net filtration
Passing into bowmans capsule
Protease formation and location
Is it found in the saliva?
Not found in saliva
Chief cells in stomach secrete pepsinogen: cleaved to active pepsin (protease in gastric juice) with lowering of pH
Development of secondary oocyte
Female birth: primary oocytes and halted in prophase I
Puberty: meiosis I completed, primary oocytes halted in metaphase II
Fertilization: primary oocytes complete meiosis II and become haploid secondary oocytes
Embryo development stages
Morula (need moreee) > blastula (blast off) > gestural > neuralation
HcG mimics what other hormone
Mimics LH: to maintain corpus luteum
What is the slope of lineweaver-Burke plot?
Km / Vmax
