Q

Meaning of kcat and Km for an enzyme

A

Km=1/2Vmax the [S] value at which velocity is half max

kcat - turnover number. indicates how fast the enzyme can work under conditions in which there is saturating amount of substrate. a strong enzyme will have a large kcat value.
