The study of populations, but most often refers to the study of human populations.
age structure
The distribution of ages in a specific population at a certain time.
fertility
The number of babies born each year per 1,000 women in a population.
survivorship
The percentage of members of a group that is likely to survive to any given age.
migration
The movement of individuals between areas.
life expectancy
The average number of years a person is likely to live.
demographic transition
A model that describes how these changes can occur.
infrastructure
The basic facilities and services that support a community.
arable land
Land that can be used to grow crops.
urbanization
More people are living in cities than in rural areas.
least developed countries
Countries that show few signs of development and in some cases have increased death rates.
