environmental rights are yet to be fully developed in international law , but relate to the right for humans to have a healthy, safe, and adequate environment, ensuring the protection and preservation of the environment for future generations

- 1972 UN hosts first international environmental conference
- declaration agreed on 26 principles concerning the environment and development
- began an international recognition of environmental rights, where meetings occured every 3-5 years from there

- MONTRAL PROCOTOL
- UN FRAMEWORK ON CLIMATE CHANGE
- KYOTO PROTOCOL FOR GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
