what is one thing that snake bites can cause?
compartment syndrome.
how do we manage snakebites?
try and keep the bite below the heart.

Notify the hospital to give heads up
what can brown recluse spider bite cause?
local tissue necrosis.
what can black widow spider bites cause?
muscle spasms and abdominal rigidity?
how do your blood vessels respond to temperature?
dilate - to cool
constrict- to keep warm
what is the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke?
when you have a change in mentation?
you will need to cool down the pt.
you can have death of brain, kidneys, liver
metabolic acidosis
Hyperkalemia
at what temp do we tend to think heat stroke?
above 105
when is someone become hypothermic?
core temp that drops less than 35C (95F)
what are osborn waves on an 12lead show you?
shows hypothermia.
if they are cold will giving meds work?
warm them up.
the meds will not work effectively.
how do you treat frostbite?
treat it like a burn.
Frostnip: first degree burn
Superficial frostbite: 2nd degree burn
Deep Frostbite: full thickness burn
We dont want to rub this tissue
