Q

What is entropy?

A
  • The dispersal of energy within chemicals making up a chemical system
  • the greater the entropy, the greater the disperse of energy and the greater the disorder in a system

Q

How does entropy change from solid, liquid and gas.

A
  • solids have the smallest entropies, liquids have greater entropies and gasses have the greatest entropies
  • increase in randomness, increase in dispersion and therefore greater entropy

Q

How does entropy change with the number of gaseous molecules?

A
  • the more gaseous products, the increase in the spread of energy and therefore the greater the entropy
