ENTERPRISE SYSTEM ,CH4 Flashcards
- ERP Technical Architecture:
The layout of layers where applecations are deployed including
- Servers and desktop
- Interfaces and software Objects
Servers and Desktop
The hardware of systems hosting the applecations
Interfacses and Software Objects
Communcation and oprational elements of the system
Types of ERP Architecture
- Mainframe Architecture
- Two-Tier Client-Server Architecture
- Three-Tier Architecture
4 .Cloud computing Architecture
Mainframe Architecture
Mainframe Architecture is a singal powerful computer handled all processign
Advantage of Mainframe Architecture
- Time option sharing : Unables users to share multiple mainframe’s computing on the same time
- Integration : Collect all enterprise functions into on system
Two-Tier Client Server Architecture
it replaces mainframe computers with powerful PC serveces
client PC coneccted directly to the server through a dedictaed connection
Server role
Manging database ( Store and retrives data)
Client role
Handling apllection logic ( and processing tasks )
Display to the users data then send the user input back to the server
Three Tier Architecture
Most modern of ERP use this Architecture
It addes applecation server layer between the (client ) and database server
Application Servers of three tier:
Process the business logic and make communicate between the clients and database
Presentation Tier (Client Tier):
- Use GUI to take user input
- Sends the user request to the application sever
- Displays the user received information in the same GUI
Database Three Tier:
Stores all the ERP data
Ensures ACID properties:
- Atomicity : Transactions are completed fully or not at all
- Consistency : Data is stay valid after a transction
- Isolation :Transactions do not affect with each other
- Durability :Data i saved always even after failure
Cloud Computing Architecture
The ERP is hosted on the cloud computing platform
Trusted third-party in cloud computing
A reliable third party is responsible for storing and managing all organization data
Internet Dependency in cloud computing
A strong and stable internet connection is necessary to access the ERP system
Installing ERP system has advantages both dierct and indierct
Direct advantages is :
- Improve Efficiency in operation
- integration of infromation to make better decision-making
- Faster response times for customers queries
Indirect Advantages
- Enhanced corporate image
- Increased customers goodwill
- Higher cutomers satsfaction
Information Integration in ERP Systems
ERP system is integrate data automatically accors related business function compnents .
Lead time
refers to the time gap between place an order and receiving it
Flexibility in manufacturing and planning:
Comines can combine multiple methods like “make-to-stock” and “make-to-order” in the same opreation
ERP systems enable change:
ERP allows business to adapt manufaturing and planning methods without changing pyphysical layout or configurations.
Cycle time
Is the time between placing an order and delivring the product , this is important for “make-to-order” product
Make-to-order
make to order takes higher cycle time and cost because the manufacturer start to prdoucing or designing the order only after receivign the order
Customer Satisfaction
Customer Satisfaction means meeting the cusomter’s need and expectations for a product or services
Supplier Managment
Supplier Managment ensures vendros deliver raw materials and compnents on time
ERP provied tools to help this process which is supplier managmetn efficiently
- Manage supplier relations : maintan suppliers communication and collaboration with supplier
- Monitor vendor activites : Track what supplier are doing and ensure they meet the deadlines
- Manage suppliers quality : Ensuer the materials provided by suppliers meet the required stadnerd
Types of Quality Costs:
- Internal failure cost
- External failure cost
- Appraisal cost
- Prevention cost
ERP Systems Role:
ERP systems integrate all organizational data into one system, removing the need to combine data from multiple isolated systems.
