A

where a clear adhesive cellulose tape is applied to the anal area early in the morning before bathing or defecation. This is then observed under a microscope for the presence of pinworm eggs. These eggs may also be stained blue with lactophenol cotton blue, which aids in detection and identification. The sensitivity of this test when performed for three consecutive mornings is 90%

18
Q

Other DIAGNOSIS

A

Anal or perianal swab
NIH swab ( should be repeated three times)
- Dirt from fingernails •
Adult worm recovery:
- On perianal region 2 to 3 hours after the infected person is asleep, the light- yellowish thread-like adult pinworms are clearly visually detectable
- On or under the stool surface

19

A

Treatment of the source of the infection (whole family)
Health education and personal hygiene
