Unlikely to survive >3 days

Can’t tolerate gastroscopy
No stomach

What are some indications for an NG tube?
Aspiration
Short term bypassing of mouth/oesophagus
Administering contrast to GI tract
What are some complications of being PEG fed?
Peritonitis
Aspiration pnemonia
Leak/Infection
Ileus
Haemorrhage
What are two methods of parenteral nurition?
PICC (Peripherally inserted central catheter)
Hickman Line (tunnelled)
What are some indications for Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)?
- Mucositis secondary to chemo
- Severe pancreatitis
- IBD
- Post op
- Swallowing difficulties
- Mobility disorders eg scleroderma
- Intestinal atresia
- IBD
- Radiation enteritis
- Swallowing difficulties
