Hx of ear pain?
A
Ear pain, hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus, discharge from ear

Conditions affect external ear canal?
A
- Otits externa - inflammatory and infective process of external auditory canal
- Perichondritis - skin and soft tissue infection

Conditions affecting middle ear?
A
- Otitis media w/ effusion - glue ear
- Acute otitis media - inflammation of middle ear
- Chronic otitis media - persistant or intermittent discharge via non-intact tympani membrane
- Ramsay hunt - ear pain and varicella-like cutaneous lesion

Why is glue ear more common in children
A
Build up behind tympanic membrane - Eustachian tube horizontal - hard to equalise pressure
Tx: grommet +- adenoidectomy

Cause epistaxis?
A
Bleeds from vessel on septum - in older people from arterial region known at Little’s area
Cause: idiopathic, trauma, coagulopathy, drug, neoplastic

Difference between acute and chronic sinusitis?
A
- Chronic - post-nasal drip of mucus and bad taste at back of mouth
- Acute - yellow/ green nasal discharge (raised temp - follow bacterial/ viral infection)
