What are the symptoms of Meniere’s disease? (5 things)
A
- Muffled hearing or hearing loss
- Feeling of fullness or pressure in the ears
- Tinnitus
- Dizziness/ vertigo (lasting anywhere from 20 mins- few hours - NO MORE THAN 24 HRS)
- Usually unilateral but can become bilateral

How would you diagnose Meniere’s disease?
A
Refer the person to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) consultant

What self care advice would you give someone with Meniere’s disease? (4 things)
A
- Acute attack of vertigo will normally settle within 24 hours in most people
- Meniere’s disease is a long-term condition, but vertigo usually significantly improves with treatment
- Advise the person not to drive when they are dizzy, or if they might experience an episode of vertigo while driving
- Refer to Meniere’s society
