ENR1.2: Visual Flight Rules Flashcards
When may VFR flight only be conducted?
1) In VMC
2) Provided that, when operating at or below 2,000 ft above the ground or water, the pilot is able to navigate by visual reference to the ground or water
3) At sub-sonic speeds
4) In accordance with airspeed limitations listed in ENR 1.4
When must a VFR flight NOT be conducted?
1) At night
2) Departing from a aerodrome unless the ETA for the destination (or alternate) is at least 10 mins before last light allowing for any required holding.
Can some ADF aircraft operate at night in accordance with day VFR?
Yes if using NVD/NVG.
Are VFR flights permitted in Class A airspace?
No only IFR flights
What are VMC in Class C aerospace?
At or above 10,000 AMSL:
- Visibility = 8km
- Distance from cloud = 1,500 m horizontal, 1,000 ft vertical
Below 10,000 AMSL:
- Flight visibility 5,000m
- Distance from cloud, 1,500 m horizontal, 1,000 ft vertical.
What are VMC criteria in Class D aerospace?
Within Class D:
- Flight visibility = 5000m
- Distance from cloud = 600m horizontal, 1000 ft vertically above cloud or 500 ft vertically below cloud
What are VMC criteria in Class E aerospace?
At or above 10,000 ft AMSL:
- Flight visibility = 8 KM
- Distance from cloud = 1500 m horizontal, 1000 ft vertical
Below 10,000 ft AMSL:
- Flight visibility = 5,000 m,
- Distance from cloud = 1500m horizontal, 1000 ft vertical.
What are VMC criteria for non controlled aerospace?
At or above 10,000 ft AMSL:
- Flight visibility = 8 KM
- Distance from cloud = 1000 ft vertical, 1500m horizontal
Below 10,000 ft AMSL:
- Flight visbility = 5000 m
- Distance from cloud = 1000 ft vertical, 1500m horizontal
At or below - whichever is higher
3000 ft AMSL:
- Flight visibility = 5000 m
- Clear of cloud and in sight of ground or water
1000 ft AGL
- Flight visibility = 5000m
- Clear of cloud and in sight of ground or water.
