Assonance
Identity or similarity in sound between internal vowels in neighboring words
Alliteration
The repetition of the initial constant sound
Hyperbole
An extravagant statement; for the purpose of emphasis or heightened words
Metaphor
A direct comparison between two unlike things that share something in common
Simile
A direct comparison using like or as
Onomatopoeia
The formation or use of words that imitate the initial sounds associated with the objects or actions referred to

Oxymoron
A figure in which opposite or contradictory terms appear side by side
Personification
A figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstraction is end owned with human qualities or abilities
Pun
A play on words, sometimes on different senses of same words and sometimes on similar sense or sound of different words
Imagery
When words are used to stimulate the five senses
