What is the Ao for question 1?
to identify and interpret explicit and implicit information and ideas.
What do you need to do for question 1?
choose the lines that are needed for the question,
keep it simple,
don’t misread the source.
What is the Ao for question 2?
explain, comment on and analyse how writers use the language and structure to achieve effects and influence readers using relevant subjects terminology to support their view.
What is question 2 actually about?
its about effects and to be specific the language the writer has used and the reason. could be either emotional or something key about a character.
How to answer question 2?
do 2 paragraph, one on a successful method the writer has implemented (simile or metaphor) and the other on another such as language or semantic field. Be sure to include connotations and develop them. make the paragraphs short and efficient.

Explain, comment on and analyse how writers use language and structure to achieve effects and influence readers, using relevant subject terminology to support their view.
What are the structural terminology that you can include in question 3?
intro to character change of focus narrowing perspective/ widening flashback circular narative linear structure tension build up setting the scene
What to do for question 3?
precise and contextualised towards the answer. Avoid vague and generalised comment.
What is the Ao for question 4?
To evaluate texts critically and support this with appropriate textual references.
What do you need to do for question 4?
evaluation of ideas and evaluation of methods. evaluate how the writer has created these impressions. circle anything that is important. see language used and imagery.
What could you include in question 4?
language, tone, structure, themes, morals, message, symbolism, verb tense, sensory des, form and contrasts.
What could you do for question 5?
- use the techniques writer used un section (do not copy)
- have structural features e.g. flashbacks, narrowing
- sophisticated language
- planning can boost marks
- leave 5 minutes to read after
- have sentence and punctual range
- include language techniques
