English: Julius Caesar Flashcards
Julius Caesar
Loved in the city. Hated by a group of conspirators including Brutus and Cassius. Although Brutus does not personally hate Caesar.
Calpurnia
Caesar’s wife who does not want Caesar to go to the Senate because she had a dream that something terrible happened to him
Marcus Brutus
Wants the best for Rome so he has to join the group of conspirators to kill Caesar. He is reluctant to join the plot, but he does anyway, because he wants Rome to remain a Republic – ruled by the people, not a king.
Portia
Brutus’ wife. When all the conspirators came early in the morning she got worried and wanted to know what was going on, but Brutus would not say a word
Mark Antony
Loyal to Caesar. Talked about Caesar on funeral and the conspirators. He kept saying “Brutus is an honorable man” and was being very sarcastic. He really meant that Brutus WASN’T honorable, because he killed his friend Caesar.
Eventually, though, after Brutus commits suicide, Mark Antony does mean it a bit when he says that Brutus was more honorable than all the other conspirators, because Brutus was at least killing Caesar for the right reasons – to save Rome. The rest of the conspirators were just jealous of Caesar’s popularity and power.
Cassius
Conspirator. Wanted to kill Caesar for personal hate issues
Caca
Conspirator
Decius Brutus
Conspirator
Cinna the Poet
Got confused with Cinna the conspirator and he was taken and killed (I think)
Soothsayer
He told Caesar, “Beware the ides of March.” (Beware of March 15th)
Lucius
Brutus’ servant
