Forced loans- pressured rich people into giving him money

He married a catholic, Henrietta Maria with a protestant country
William Laud changed the churches decorations to opposite of what puritans wanted
Scots were so angry about new prayer book that they invaded, he called back parliament in 1640
Causes of the civil war divine right of kings
Charles thought that he was chosen by god so if anyone argued with him, they were sinning against god. He could pass whatever laws he wanted.

He forced people to give him money through ship money, forced loans and monopolies and titles

When parliament sent complaints to king charles and he sent 300 soldiers to find 5 troublesome members but they had fled
