reference to popular stories (eg. im the romeo to your juliet)
imperative
direct order to implied subject. (eg. wash the dishes)
personal anecdote
short stories included in text to support, entertain or demonstrate discussion.

look at source of where the story came from (eg author, year written, cultural background)
