Actions before entering a machinery space
- Inform person in charge
- Use man-below tally
- Select appropriate PPE
- Check COSHH data sheets
Confined space
An enclosed space which has been inventilated for more than 24hrs

* Watertight compartments

Before accessing a confined space
- Space is cool
- Force vented for 24hr min
- After 24hrs atmosphere tested safe
- If not safe,force vented for another 12hrs & retested. repeat till safe
- Gas free certificate obtained

Precautions for confined spaces
- No smoking
- Sentry
- Have comms
- Have means to call for help
