Engineering Flashcards
What are the 7 types of engineering?
Aerospace
Agriculture
Biomedical
Building/Architecture
Environment
Software
Fashion
what is aerospace engineering?
involved in research, design, and construction of aircraft to help keeps plans and other aircrafts safe
what is agriculture engineering?
conserving natural resources such as soil, rivers and land
acronym for engineering:
sensitive ami eats big bananas and fruits
what is biomedical engineering?
new technologies and products that are super helpful when it comes to medical research and diagnosing health problems
what is building engineering?
planning, design and construction of buildings
what is enviroment engineering?
focusing on protecting the environment and promote sustainable engineering projects
what is software engineering?
designing, developing, and modifying all the complex software systems
what is fashion engineering?
developing running shoes, creating lightweight breathable materials
what is a force?
A force is a push or a pull of an object
what is Newton first law of motion?
States an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion will stay in motion at the same speed and in the same direction unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
what is newtons second law of motion?
States the acceleration of an object by a force is inversely proportional to the mass of the object and directly proportional to the force.
what is the formula for newtons 2nd law of motion?
force = mass x acceleration
what is newtons 3rd law of motion?
States for every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction.
what is a contact force?
A contact force is any force that requires contact to occur.
what is friction?
Whenever an object moves or rubs against another object
what is a non contact force?
A non-contact force is a force between two objects that are not in physical contact
what is gravity?
Gravity is an invisible force that pulls objects towards each other
what are the 4 types of motion?
Linear
Oscillation
Rotary
Reciprocating
what is linear motion?
moves in a straight line e.g. a train down a train track
what is oscilliating motion?
curved backwards and forwards movement that swings on an axis or a pivot point e.g. a pendulum
what is rotary motion?
something that moves around an axis on a pivot point e.g. ferris wheel
what is reciprocating motion?
repeated up and down motion or back and forwards motion
what is energy?
the ability to do work
define engineer:
Engineering is designing, testing, and building machines, structures, and processes using math and science.
define engineering:
Engineering is the application of science and maths to solve problems.
what are 5 indigenous weapons?
Dilly bag
what is a modern version of the Dilly Bag?
Handbag
what is a dilly bag? (2)
- used by women to gather food
- usually weaved
