Who decides where to position the engine apparatus once the fire locate has been determined ?
What factors is this decision based on ? 1-6

Answer 1

The officer
This decision must be based on several factors, such as 
1. overall objectives
2. water source
3. type of fire
4. how close to the fire building the apparatus will be
5. the type of stretch to be made
6. if the apparatus will block out or be
blocked out by other incoming units

Question 2

In order to facilitate an efficient and coordinated operation, the officer of the first
engine company should strive to enter the block ahead of the first ladder company
and from the same direction
What are some Exceptions ?

Answer 2

With the exception of a fire building located at the end of a Narrow dead end road the ladder company should normally allow the engine company to enter the block first

Whenever possible, the following guidelines should be followed:
 Only two handlines should be operated from a pumper.
 The supply pumper in a relay operation should not supply any hand lines or large caliber streams.
 The pumper supplying a large caliber stream should not supply any hand lines or additional large caliber streams
If these guidelines are exceeded what must be done ?

If an emergency requires exceeding the above guidelines, the * Supply OR Operating pumper* shall be augmented as soon as possible to ensure that positive water is maintained and the Incident Commander shall be notified
