Q

What is the reaction for the Aerobic energy system?

A

1) aerobic glycolysis
Glycogen –GPP–> glucose – PFK–> (as oxygen is present) pyruvic acid –CoEnzymeA–> Acetyl CoA

2) Krebb’s Cycle
Acetyl CoA + Oxaloacetic Acid = Citric Acid
Enters Krebb’s cycle and in a series of reactions is oxidised..
CO2 is produced and removed by expiration
Oxaloacetic acid is regenerated
2ATP
Hydrogen is released

3) electron transport chain
Hydrogen + NAD and FAD (hydrogen carriers) = NADH and FADH

Splits into electrons, ones carried by NAD provide 30 ATP and ones carried by FAD provides 4ATP
Hydrogen + + Oxygen = H20
