Factors effecting VO2 Max
A
lifestyle - smoking decreases VO2
body composition - high % of fats decreases VO2
gender - men have approx. 20% higher VO2 max than women
Age - older you get, the more our VO2 declines
Genetics - genetically determined, so limits the impact of training
Training - VO2 max can be improved by 10-20% following aerobic training
