Energy: Part 2 Flashcards
Energy transfer
When energy moves from one place to another.
Pathway
Conducting wires that connect the two terminals of the battery.
Open circuits
An open circuit is a circuit in which the path is incomplete which means there is no flow of current.
Closed Circuits
A closed circuit is a circuit I which path is complete and there is a flow of current in the entire path.
Switch
A switch is an electrical component that is used to turn on and turn off ant equipment like a television, washing machine, lights, fans, ect.
Electric current
Electric current is the flow of electric charge from one place to another in a circuit
Electric circuit model
An electric circuit has to have a power source wires for the electricity to flow for through , and a device such as a lamp or a motor that uses the electric current.
Insulators
Substances that do not allow an electric charge to pass through. glass, air, cotton, plastic, rubber, and wood.
Conductors
Substances that can pass through without difficulty. power lines, fences, battery jumper cables, TV”s / phones ect., copper, aluminum, iron, steel, gold and silver.
Source
Such as a battery
User
Such as a light bulb or other device that uses energy.
