Energy part 2 Flashcards
Energy part 2
When energy moves from one place to another.
Energy transfer
Ex: conducting wires that connect the two terminals of the battery.
pathway
a circuit in which the path is incomplete which means there is no flow of the current
open circuits
A switch is an electrical component that is used to turn on and turn off any equipment like a television, washing machine, lights, fans, ect.
switch
Electric current is the flow of electric charge from one place to another in a circuit.
Electric current
a circuit in which the path is complete and there is a flow of current in the entire path
Closed Circuit
An electric circuit has to power source, wires for the electricity to flow through, and a device such as a lamp or a motor that uses the electric current
Electric circuit model
Substances that do not allow an electric charge to pass through. Ex: glass, air, cotton , plastic, rubber and wood
insulators
Substances that an electric charge can pass through without difficulty. Ex: power lines, fences for livestock, battery jumper cables, powering electronic devices, also copper, aluminum, iron, steel, gold and silver
conductors
such as a battery
source
such as a light bulb or other device that uses energy.
