Energy and Energy Transfer Flashcards
What is the relationship between energy and power
Power is the rate at which energy is transferred or work is done.
Power: variable P, unit: watts
Power = work/time
Describe kinetic energy
Kinetic energy is a form of work and so has units of joules.
The formula is
Kinetic energy = 1/2 mass × V²
What is the relationship between energy and work
Energy is the capacity to do work and can take 6 forms
Chemical, mechanical, electrical, atomic, heat light.
List the six types of energy
Mechanical Electrical Chemical Heat Light Atomic
What is the difference between power and energy
Energy is the ability to do work. Power is the rate at which energy is used or work is done. Hence power is watts is joules used per second. Hence energy is the integral of power and power is the derivative of energy.
