Energy Flashcards
What is the law of conservation?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred from one store to another.
Name all of the 9 types of energy
Light energy Sound energy Thermal energy Electrical energy Nuclear energy Kinetic energy Elastic potential energy Gravitational potential energy Chemical energy
What modern day equipments use energy transfer?
Rollercoasters
How do solar panels work?(from the energy transfer point of view)
Heat energy is inputted into the solar panel, in which it is transferred to electric energy
How does a battery work?(when placed in something)
The battery has chemical energy and it is transferred to electrical energy
What is an example of elastic energy?
Elastic bands
What is an example of chemical energy?
Any food
What happens when you reach the top of the rollercoaster?
The gravitational potential energy turns to 0, in which is transferred to kinetic energy(when you go down)
What is an example of gravitational potential?
Flying on an aeroplane, or simply jumping
When a candle is lit, what are the energy transfers happening?
It starts off as chemical energy, in which when the candle is lit, it transfers into heat, light and a tiny bit of sound
