gold standard for diagnosis of endometriosis

pelvic USS largely unhelpful

- small, superfiscial leisons
- deeper leisons on pelvic lining
- more extensive deeper leisons on ovary and pelvic lining
- as above with extensive adhesions
medical management options for endometriosis
analgesia
hormonal medication (COCP, Depo, IUS) to prevent ovulation and endometrial thickening
induction of medical menopause (GnRH analogues)
surgical options for endometriosis management
laparoscopic excision/ cautery
removal of adhesions
hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooparectomy
