investigations?

A
  1. vaginal Ex + speculum (to exclude other DDX)
  2. transvaginal/s endo thickening >4mm - take a biopsy
  3. hysteroscopy - biopsy

RFs

A

excessive oestrogen:

  • obesity
  • unopposed tamoxifen
  • PCOS
  • early menarche, late menopause

2 histological types of endometrial cancer

A
  1. endometrioid adenocarcinoma - MOST COMMON

2. uterine serous + clear cell carcinoma - HIGH GRADE, POOR PROG –> older women

tx

A

early stage - TAH + BSO + peritoneal washing

high risk - chemo

advanced - radio with external beam or caesium insertion

palliation: progesterone
