What is the endocrine system ?
Its a netwrok of glands across the human body
4 examples of Glands
Hypothalamus
Pitunitary
Adrenal
Ovaries and Testies
How does the ES transport hormones around the body ?
It uses blood vessels to transport horomones around the body , to specific target cells and different hormones to produce different effects.
Whats the role of the Hypothalamus ?
it connects to the pituraity gland , it stimulates and controls the release of hormones from the P glands.
Whats the role of the pitinary gland ?
known as the master gland , Divided into two anterior and posterior
A - produces ACTH , which stimluates the adreanl cortex and the release of corlisol
P - Releases oxytocin , resonsible for uterus contractions during childbirth
The role of the adrenal gland
divided into two parts , the adreanl medulla and the adreanl cortex (outlayer).
AM- plays a part in flight or fight
AC - releases coritsal which stimulates the release of glucose while supressing the immune system
The role of the testies
It releases androgen , including main hormone testostrone, T is resonsible for the development of male sex characteristics during puberty like ,muscle growth
role of the ovavries
Releases oestrogen which controls the regulation of the female reproductive system including pregnancy
